Diane: 13:45 Rx’d (hit the HSPU wall on every round and had to finish 1 at a time)(this is a great combo for a headache, 3 hrs later and its still there)
Challenge: 46 w/45#bar
I was in the middle of my last 9 HSPUs when the 15 minute time limit passed, but Dave thankfully let me keep going so I could get my first Diane benchmark time. The last round of HSPUs were one at a time. It was the only way I could ensure head to deck and full lockout on every rep. This may not be a barn-burner time, but I am very pleased to finish it as prescribed. No way I could have done this a year ago.
I skipped the challenge. Finishing Diane was my challenge. I could feel the fatigue in my lower back (still feeling the effects of a 3×3 and 1×20 deadlift I also did on Saturday) so I passed on the squat jumps to live to fight another day.
So my goal for 2010 is to RX everything. Diane was not the best start. I am not sure I will be doing RX HSPU by the end of the year nevermind today!!!
But hey, working on it!
135 deadlift
HSPU on knees on a box but I did make sure I touched my head for every single HSPU
12:44
The challenge was a killer. Holy cow. It looked much easier on the board. I think got 28. My quads were burning so much I couldn’t even count!
All I really need to say today is “I suck at hand stand push ups”
My favorite one was when I fell over and got my foot caught on the climbing rope.
That was almost as fun as falling on my head.
rxd 14:31 however I did not go down all the way every time on the HSPU’s. My real time if I did it with proper form would have been about 45 minutes.
Rx’d Diane today at 7:37 PR. If it werent for Garret and the Nooners today i would’ve finished over the 8min mark. They pushed me to bang out the last 9 dead lifts at 225 in a row then 1′s and 2′s on the HSPU for the last round. Felt really good not suckin pond water but def felt the fatigue in my legs.
challenge Lvl 2 today was 91 jumping squats
Weighted dips after
3×5 53# kb
2×3 70# kb
1×3 70# kb and 20# weight vest
The best part of the WOD was watching Jay and Mike trying to finish the HSPU. Arm fatigue starts at the wrist first, then the elbow bends a little…the core stability lets go as the weight shifts…then the WHOLE mess comes collapsing down into a heap. Ah, Good Stuff!
WELCOME TO 2010.
This is a easy week for me. Doing a veggie detox for the week and quiting dip(chewing tabacco). So I will be doing the warmup and skill then some farting around on things that I need to work on. Today was rowing did a 2000m row nice and slow working on my pull and recovery. Not sure what it is but something is off with me. I seem to be even more hyper and scatter brain than normal. Not sure if it the the detox or the lack of nicotine.
The key to good mechanics. See your olympic lifts frame by frame. Break old running habits with a 45 minute video analysis session.
