T&M were going to bring four buddies of ours tonight…but instead now have to make up an excuse that we both have the swine flu so they don’t think NSCF is the equivalent to a women’s spinning class.
Mike, earlier this morning I would have agreed with your statement. But after I complained to Dave about how uninspiring this workout was, he pointed out that the Press/Push Press/Push Jerk challenge is all about getting your form right so that you can get your max reps. I know this would be a hard sell to a bunch of newbies but it is still a good workout.
Wow, Mikey… you are on a roll this week! From what I can see there is a misunderstanding that most of the wod’s on the board are what you should be focusing on. Your focus should actually be on the skills and the challenges. These are what perfect your movement and allow you to set new PR’s. Coming in and doing your “own thing” is not the answer to perfecting your movements and improving your skills. You need to build your brick S*&$ house … one brick at a time!
I have noticed that the “T&M” show has an awful lot to say on the new blog. I’ve also noticed that there is an awful lot of M and not so much T representing the T&M show.
Also, I really liked your comment Tara. Not that I didn’t pay attention in skill sessions, but I admit I feel like I find myself growing impatient during the skill sessions because i’m eager to get into the WOD. I’m going to have to catch myself when I do that and concentrate more on the skills.
I wish I could take credit for this find, but it was Gordo who posted it on his FB page.
I don’t know what all the deal is with all these undercover videos going on Beverly lately, but apparently someone caught a conversation between two of its members: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsTbas5NgF0 (not W/F/S)
joe/gordon that video was hysterical. The words were funny but the intonation cracked my up….they way they said dou*(bag was so funny
Anyway…. planned to skip the gym today but the 4 x 400 looked good. I was disapointed it was only 1x 400 that I ran. I was hoping it was 4x.
But good tabatas and presses.
off to yoga tomorrow, may come on saturday. I hope the dressing up is optional!
I like all the activity on the new site. It gives me a great forum to get some coaching in. Here’s the deal, put on your thick skin. NO ONE joined NS CrossFit to work out on their own. The only reason you are here is to get coached, improve your skills, have a great community to workout with and then push for elite fitness. Nobody will every achieve it unless they spend the time practicing and work under a coaches eye to fix small movement flaws. Let’s take today’s WOD. Unless you can walk around the gym on your hands, run a sub 60 second 400 and get at least 15 rounds of the press/push press/push jerk challenge then it should have been very hard today. If on Monday,Tuesday and Wednesday 100% was put out, today was a much needed training day. On another note, if anyone at the gym is working out 2x per day I would expect you are weighing and measuring your food. Make sure you are keeping a journal, reviewing your notes, asking questions and working daily towards perfection. It’s not just about showing up for a workout.
Stay tuned. The “New World Order” is about to be released.
Joe – I got the video from a Crossfit group on LinkedIn. The wonders of social media never cease.
Jen – you should give Paleo a try – my new pic is tied in it. While it was easy for me to give up bread, milk, cheese etc, giving up drinking is hard. I am attempting a full month alcohol free for the first time since 1981.
Don’t shut down the boards yet! On my way to the 7 PM!!! DYING to get there today after my experience last night at a popular “conventional gym”…oh man – I’m likely to kiss the rubber flooring upon arrival!
Challenge: only 6 rounds–forgot to keep elbows up, so my shoulders burned out quickly.
First time doing any running in 3 months-knee pain returned an hour after the workout.
I guess rowing will be a substitution for running for the next few months.
Just got back from my kids Cross Country NEC Meet…. craziness!!! Hundreds of kids in an open field trying to get to the narrow path first! 1.7 miles of hills and mud! So out of 232 boys Cody came in 10th. And out of 299 girls Mackenzie came in 67th! Who would have thought the Picardys would have RUNNERS!!! Not sure of exact times, Cody’s time was somewhere around 9:45ish. Mackenzie was somewhere around 15ish. Good stuff! Proud Mama today!

Testimonials
I began working out at Northshore Crossfit because I really needed to make some healthy lifestyle changes. I hadn’t exercised in over a year. I was experiencing a lot of joint pain and stiffness and I had gained weight. In 4 1/2 months I have lost 26 pounds, and have built my strength, stamina and energy level.
